Phil’s World Trail System is located 6 miles from Cortez across from the Fairgrounds on Highway 160 and offers something for every lever of mountain biker from beginner to advanced. The singletrack looped trail system, which is on a mix of BLM and State Trust Land, has well-designed trails that flow and swoop through pinyon pine and juniper forests. All loops are directional and ridden clockwise. See MTB Project for a full description and pictures. Super fun! [Getting Here]

Boggy Draw, located near Dolores, has approximately 30 miles of trails ranging from beginner to intermediate in the shade of old growth forest. For example, the Boggy Draw Loop is 9-mile ride through Ponderosa pines and is great for family riding. The 13-mile intermediate rated ride, Bean Canyon Loop, starts with several climbs and descents followed by a fun section of flowing singletrack and then a steady climb before connecting back to the trailhead. There are many other mountain bike rides in the area, and the Big Loops Map is a great resource that includes all three areas above and more. Click on the Map link in the sidebar to the right for complete list of map resources.
