Fruita has long-been known as a mountain biking and road riding mecca. The community of approximately 12,000 is located along the Colorado River and I-70 corridor 12 miles west of Grand Junction. At an elevation of 4,514, Fruita is bordered by both the Colorado National Monument to the south and the Book Cliffs to the North. People travel from all over the world to mountain bike on the world-famous Fruita singletrack at the Kokopelli Trail System and 18 Road/North Fruita Desert. The route, known as Tour of the Moon, was made famous in the 1980’s Coors Classic race and in the movie, American Flyers. Many other recreation opportunities exist such as hiking, rafting, fishing, stand-up-paddle boarding, off-roading including motorcycles and ATVs, hunting, golfing, and disc golf just to name a few!
