Gateway is an unincorporated community located south of Grand Junction and north of Cortez on Highway 141. The Delores River and John Brown Canyon are nearby. It is home to the Gateway Canyons Resort and Auto Museum established by Discovery Channel founder John S. Hendricks. Within the last five years, several singletrack mountain bike trails have been built near the resort. There are many more backcountry trails between Gateway, Naturita, and Paradox. This areas is also known as the West End. Highway 141 is part of the Unaweep-Tabeguache Scenic and Historic Byway used by many road cyclists. Tourists can enjoy kayaking, off-road tours, guided fly-fishing, horseback riding, air tours and more at the Gateway Canyons Resort.
