Happy New Year! 2017 was an awesome year for cycling in Western Colorado with weather that allowed for great riding all the way to the last day of the year. As we ring in 2018, we want to take this opportunity to let you know about some changes here at Cycling Western Colorado.
#CyclingWestCO founder, Kristina, has made the decision to return to nursing full-time and is loving it. With this transition, she is focused on spending her free time with family and riding her bikes for fun. Kristina has decided to hand off Cycling Western Colorado, but will remain very engaged in local cycling organizations, particularly GJ Velo. Because she felt that Cycling Western Colorado is a valuable resource for the cycling community, Kristina reached out to find someone to take over the operations of the site and is pleased to announce that Dave Grossman will take over as the new CEO (Cycling Executive Officer) of Cycling Western Colorado. With the announcement Kristina is excited for the future,
“Dave is the perfect person to take Cycling Western Colorado to the next level. He has been involved in the cycling and trails community for many years, and is very knowledgeable. His love of and passion for the sport is contagious!”
Dave Grossman grew up in Durango, a Western Colorado boy to the core. From his first bicentennial BMX bike as a kid, cycling has always been an essential part of his life. With experience racing BMX early on, he started riding road bikes to train and then race. Growing up in one of the birthplaces of riding trails, he started mountain biking in the mid-80’s and quickly started building trails to expand the growing options in Durango. Those two passions continue today with his work as the founder and board president of the Grand Valley Trails Alliance and as the founder and former event director of the Grand Junction Off-Road. Whether it is on a mountain bike (frequently a singlespeed), road bike, gravel grinding, fat biking, or bike packing, Dave is happiest riding, sharing adventures with friends, training, and even racing a few events each year. These 40+ years of riding experience will help take Cycling Western Colorado to the next stage in its growth.
Cycling Western Colorado appreciates you support and engagement this year. We have built a foundation of information about how to Eat, Sleep,Ride, Repeat in Western Colorado and will be expanding on that foundation as well as building some new features this year. Please consider joining as a member of the CyclingWesternColorado.com website so you can enjoy all the latest updates, new content, and some exciting new offerings coming this year.
Thanks to Kristina for your vision and launching us on this ride! There is more great adventure ahead.
